Institutional Disclosures for enrolled and prospective Students

§ 668.43 (b) Institutional Information: The institution must make available for review to any enrolled or prospective student upon request, a copy of the documents describing the institution’s accreditation and its State, Federal, or tribal approval or licensing. The institution must also provide its students or prospective students with contact information for filing complaints with its accreditor and with its State approval or licensing entity and any other relevant State official or agency that would appropriately handle a student’s complaint.

Students who are enrolled in an East Carolina University course who have a complaint about a program, course or experience, should follow ECU’s Grievance Policy,and we direct you to the policy. ECU’s Grievance Policy

If a student located in a State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement (SARA) state has a complaint about an institution operating under SARA, complaints must first go through the institutions procedure for resolution of student grievances. If a student is not satisfied with the outcome of the institutional process, the complaint may then be brought to the SARA portal agency in the institution’s home state. The state where the student is located may also resolve the complaint.

Nursing Education: State approval of a program to offer Alabama licensed nurses opportunities for advanced degrees does not indicate eligibility for approval to practice as an advanced nurse in Alabama. Applicants for approval in Alabama are required to meet the Alabama requirements for national certification, graduation from a specific-type program for the advanced practice approval, and completion of the appropriate application. Alabama Board of Education
East Carolina University is approved by the Alabama Board of Education to offer online Education programs.

Teacher Education: State authorization to provide a program related to the preparation of teachers or other P-12 school/system personnel does not indicate eligibility for an Alabama certificate. Prospective Alabama students are advised to contact the Alabama State Superintendent of Education. Applicants for an Alabama certificate based on reciprocity must meet Alabama’s test requirements and submit a valid, renewable professional educator certificate/license issued by another state at the degree level, grade level, and in the teaching field or area of instructional support for which an Alabama certificate is sought and for which Alabama issues a certificate. Applicants for Alabama certification in an area of administration must also document at least three years of full-time employment as an administrator in a P-12 school system(s).

As an out-of-state public institution, East Carolina University is not under the purview of the California Bureau of Private Postsecondary educations, thus Bureau approval for ECU to offer its programs to residents of California is not required.
